In the care of
Dudley Funeral Home
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michele Clancy, who departed this life surrounded by her loved ones.
Michele was born in humble surroundings on a small farm in Palmer, Massachusetts where she often retold early childhood memories of going to church or the corner market with her parents and two older siblings in a horse-drawn buggy or sleigh, depending on the season. Michele was the youngest of three children.
Over her long and exciting life, this amazing woman held many roles. In her early years, she became an expert on antiques and opened an antiques store. She then opened her heart and home by establishing her own daycare that she maintained for over 38 years. It is here where she influenced, cared for, and showed the same love and compassion to the children who attended, as she gave to her own. After moving to North Carolina with her late husband, this warrior of a woman became an armed guard at a nuclear power plant in her 50s, where she proudly carried a 9mm handgun. Later, Michele and her husband purchased a tractor-trailer, where they spent well over a decade traveling the country and Canada.
Michele loved to travel and sightsee. Her heart was full surrounded by family, bonding through happy times and developing a legacy of love through each cherished memory. Whether it was downhill skiing, laughing and strategizing over a gameboard, recanting events of the day’s adventures, singing Karaoke, or being the number one volunteer on a cruise ship she was always engaged in the activity, Michele was the life of the party and had a positive attitude no matter the circumstance. She loved adventure, and throughout her years, participated in a number of activities such as hiking, skiing, camping, skydiving, ziplining, snorkeling, hot air ballooning, and rode across country on a motorcycle.
A humble, generous, and Godly woman, Michele regularly attended church, tithed religiously, and stayed active volunteering. Moreover, she regularly donated to her favorite charities.
Michele was preceded by her mother and father, Velma and Albert Berthiaume, brother, Albert Berthiaume Jr., husband, John Clancy, son, Richard Clancy, her granddaughters, Lynn (Hall) Paydos and Korin Van Scyoc, and great granddaughter, Kaylee VanScyoc.
She is survived by her older sister, Margorie Whitcomb, sister-in-law, Iris Cardin, children, Steven Hall, Kimberly Draper, and Kelley VanScyoc, grandchildren, Craig Hall, Matthew, Michael and Allison Draper, Jennifer Servian, Kristopher VanScyoc, Ryan Sweeney. Great Grandchildren, Travis, Hayden, and Matthew Paydos, Daniel, Kaylyn Hall, McKenzie Daudelin, Ellie Draper, Brielle Servian, Layken, Radley, Waverly Wunschel, Ethan Sands, Joshua, Jacob, Lola and Luna VanScyoc, Marilynn, Preston, Charlie Sweeney, Rowan Champion. Great-great grandson Maxwell Paydos.
Michele’s life was a testament to compassion and generosity. She will be deeply missed by all, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.
