Mary Boyle Sweeney Britton died October 20, 2023; she was 88 years old. Mary grew up in Chicago and retired to Florida. She was born to Philip Boyle, from Arranmore Island, Ireland and Bridget McGarvey, from Loughanure, Donegal, Ireland, loving mother and grandmother of Francis (Karen) Sweeney and their children Samantha (Brandon) Murphy and Timothy Sweeney; Phillip Sweeney and his children Margaret Sweeney, Kathleen Sweeney, Marissa (Zachery) Yeakel, Matthew Sweeney, Andrew Sweeney; Cathryn (Kirk; deceased) Hansen and their children Maribridget (Anthony) Pisano and Kirk Hansen; Maureen Sweeney, Patrick (Elizabeth) Sweeney and their children Rosemarie Sweeney and Isabella Sweeney; and
Brendan (Amy) Sweeney and their children Eliza Sweeney, Callahan Sweeney, and Megan Sweeney. She is also a great grandma to Riley, Morgan, Aiden, Amelia, and Brian. Fond aunt of Philip, Marigale, Lori Ann, Kevin, Scott, Colleen, Veronica, Joseph, and Jennifer.
Mary is preceded in death by her infant son, Bryan Neil, brother Philip Boyle, and sisters, Sarah Woodville and Theresa Winarski Bush; and husbands, Franklin Sweeney and Ronald Britton, and son-in law Kirk Hansen.
Mary was active in the Chicago lending industry and was known as the Credit Lady. In Venice, Florida, she was a member of Plantation Country Club. Mary enjoyed bridge, golf, bocce, and many wonderful friends. Mary's greatest and proudest accomplishment is her loving and caring children. "We endured and prospered!"
Funeral arrangements are pending. Mary will be interned with her mother at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, Illinois.
