Elizabeth Sue "Betty" Mickens, 85, passed into eternal rest October 9, 2024 in New Smyrna Beach, Florida with her family by her side. Born August 28, 1939 in Montville New Jersey, Betty attended Boonton High School and was proud to be a "Boonton Bomber" alumni. After raising her family and working, Betty retired from Howmet in Rockaway and moved to Florida. She continued her love of watercolor painting, Seniors group, and Jacksonville Chapel worship services. Betty was always a treasure of light and love to her family. Her smile and laughter were a beacon to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be remembered for her selfless love, generous nature, and humble spirit.
She leaves behind treasured memories to her husband and best friend, Kevin Mickens, her children Mark (Krissy) Oberdick, Jeff (Dawn) Oberdick, Dale (Husky) Harris, Lori (Bob) Dillon, and previously deceased foster son John Woolsey. Grandchildren Karen, Jake, Shannon, Josh, Faith, Grace, and William. Great grandchildren Ian, Kaya, Jason, and William "Bubby".
Also survived by her brother Carl (Mary) Foerster. And many fond nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be private.
If you'd like to make a donation in her memory, two of her favorite charities were Shriners Childrens Hospital, and St. Jude's Research Hospital.
