Anita Lamb Backe-Mandarino, 94, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. She was born in Ravenna, Ohio and moved to Florida in the late 1940ís with her husband, John W. Backe, who passed away on March 17, 1973. She later married Larry Mandarino who passed away on February 17, 2012. Anita was a proud member of the Marine Corps serving as Corporal during World War II, receiving one of the first Victory Medals. She was a member of the Episcopal Church, American Legion Post #323, a Girl Scout Leader and a secretary. She loved spending time with her family, cooking, puzzles, crafts and taking long walks on the beach. She is survived by two daughters, Lorrie Sprigg and Barbara Draa, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie Webber. Memorial service will be 1 PM Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Carlton Shores Health & Rehabilitation Center, 1320 S. Nova Road, Daytona Beach. Graveside service will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, with U. S. Marine Corps military honors. In honor of Anita, memorial donations may go the American Legion Post #323, 1124 Ashlar Ave., Lehigh Acres, FL 33936.
